About Ethernet Table for VLANs

The Ethernet table is a view, which is composed of four spreadsheets.

Note: With the Electrical, Electronics and Software Architect (ELAET) or Electrical and Control Architect (EEWCI) roles, you can work with Ethernet networks for Automotive or Industrial Equipment.

This page discusses:

To access the table, double-click the VLANs node of a topology, if it contains VLANs.

The table contains the following tabs:

  • Channels
  • Switch EE Components
  • EE Components
  • Multicast MAC Addresses

Channels

This table is a matrix, in which each cell represents an association between a physical segment and a VLAN.

Column Name Description
Ethernet Segments/VLANs

Creates a line for each Ethernet segment name.

Connected to Switch

Lists Ethernet segments connected to switches.

VLANs

Indicates the associations between Ethernet segments and VLANs.

Click a cell to create or remove an association. The actions in the matrix impact:

  • The list of VLANs associated with physical segments, which are visible in the Properties page.
  • The representation of the physical segments in the hardware diagram.

For example, the traffic of a VLAN can transit on specific segments.

Switches EE Components

This table presents the description of the switches of the topology.

Column Name Description
Switches

Lists the switches of a topology. Creates a line per Ethernet port of a switch.

Ethernet Port

Lists the Ethernet ports of switches.

Scheduling Policy

Lists the scheduling policy of selected ports.

To define a scheduling policy, click to select a scheduling policy or edit the cell.

Priority

Lists the priorities of selected ports.

To define a priority, edit the cell.

Ethernet Connected Instance Port

Indicates to which EE component, the switch is connected from its Ethernet port.

EE Components

This table presents the description of the EE components in the topology, which are not switches.

Column Name Description
EE Component Instance

Lists the EE component instances of a topology. A line is created for each Ethernet port of an EE component.

Ethernet Port

Lists the Ethernet ports of EE component instances.

MAC Address

Lists the Unicast addresses of ports.

Note: The first bit of the leftmost byte of a MAC address should be even. The byte appears red if the value is odd/not even.

To define a MAC address, edit the cells with one hexadecimal byte per cell and six cells per address.

Multicast MAC Address

Lists the multicast addresses of ports.

Note: The first bit of the leftmost byte of a multicast MAC address should be even. The byte appears red if the value is odd/not even.

To define a multicast MAC address, edit the cells with one hexadecimal byte per cell and six cells per address.

Ethernet Connected Instance Port

Indicates to which EE component, the EE component of the first column is connected from its Ethernet port.

Multicast MAC Addresses

This table presents multicast MAC addresses used in the topology.

Column Name Description
Multicast MAC Addresses

Lists the different multicast MAC addresses used in the topology.

Ethernet EE Component Instance Port

Indicates for each multicast MAC address, the EE component instances, and their ports, which use this address.
