Each reference can be used as a model from which you can create many
instances. This action is called instantiation.
Many instances of the same reference model can exist in one or more system designs, this is
the basic concept of reuse.
Each instance has a reference to a model from which it has been instantiated. A reference
model can contain instances of other reference models.
Notes:
- The instances of functions are called subfunctions. When function A is instantiated in
function B, the instance of function A becomes a subfunction in function B.
- The instances of topologies are called subsystems. When topology A is instantiated in
topology B, the instance of topology A becomes a subsystem in topology B.
Instance objects contain mandatory attributes and can contain customized properties if your
administrator has customized PLM data types with new attributes.
