Connecting Switches and EE Components

In a hardware diagram, you can connect an EE component to one switch or two switches together.

Note: With the Avionics Architect (AVARA) role, you can work with Ethernet networks for Avionics.

The following scenario shows how to connect an ECU to a switch. The behavior is identical for the other types of EE components and for the two switches.

Before you begin: Create an Ethernet physical segment.
  1. Drag the Ethernet or AFDX/ARINC 664 connector type from the tree onto the ECU in the diagram.
    An Ethernet port is created on the ECU.
  2. Drag this port from the ECU to the switch.
    The following elements are created:
    • A port on the switch
    • An Ethernet physical segment between the ECU and the switch

    The segment appears as a line.
