Inserting EE Components

You can insert EE components (ECU, Actuator, Sensor, and Electrical Device) into a topology or a rack.

This scenario describes how to insert one or more ECUs in a topology or a rack. The scenario is identical for actuators, sensors, and electrical devices.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create one or more ECUs. For more information, see Creating EE Components.

Insert EE Components in a Topology

Before you begin: Create a topology. For more information, see Creating Topologies.
  1. In the Hardware tab, right-click the ECUs node of the topology and select Insert ECUs .
  2. In the Insert ECUs dialog box:
    1. Enter the number of instances of ECUs to be created.
    2. Select the ECUs to be instantiated.
Each selected ECU is instantiated the number of instances times.
  3. Click OK.

For each selected ECU, the number of instances of this ECU is created and all ECUs appear under the ECUs node of the topology.

Insert EE Components in a Rack

Before you begin: Create a rack. For more information, see Creating Racks.
  1. In the Hardware tab, right-click the ECUs node of the rack and select Insert ECUs .
  • For each selected ECU, the number of instances of this ECU is created and all ECUs appear under the ECUs node of the topology.

    1. To place the ECUs in the rack, click Next step .
Some positions are suggested to place the ECUs.
    2. For each instance to place, select a row index, a column index, and a slot index.
    3. Click OK.

For each selected ECU, the number of instances of this ECU is created and all ECUs appear under the ECUs node of the rack.

If several instances have the same position, a warning message appears.
