Creating Hardware Port Constraints

You can create a port constraint, which associates a bus signal with a communication port. The port constraint indicates the bus signal to use if the system signal is associated with more than one bus signal.

This task shows you how to:

Create a Hardware Port Constraint from EE Components

You can create a hardware port constraint from an EE component.

This scenario describes how to create a hardware port constraint for an ECU. The scenario is identical for actuators, sensors, and electrical devices.

  1. From the System view, expand the System Mappings node and select a system mapping.
  2. In the Component Partitionings node, right-click an ECU instance, select Create Hardware Port Constraint .
  3. Enter these details for the new hardware port constraint:

    Box Name Description
    Port Select a port.
Direction Select a direction: In or Out.
Bus signal Select a bus signal.

A hardware port constraint is created and appears in the Hardware Port Constraints node of the selected ECU.

Create a Hardware Port Constraint from Allocations

You can create a hardware port constraint from allocations composed of an EE component, a port, and a bus signal.

This scenario describes how to create a hardware port constraint for a functional allocation. The scenario is identical for a software allocation from the Data Allocations node.

  1. From the System view, expand the System Mappings node and select a system mapping.
  2. In the Port/Connection Allocations node, right-click a port under a flow mapping and select Create Hardware Port Constraint .

Note: This command is only available if no hardware port constraint already exists.

A hardware port constraint is created and appears under the Hardware Port Constraints node of the corresponding EE component in the Component Partitionings node.
Tip: To select an existing hardware port constraint associated with an allocation, right-click an allocation under a flow mapping and click Select Hardware Port Constraint in Tree. The corresponding hardware port constraint is selected in the Hardware Port Constraints node of the corresponding EE component.
