Locking and Unlocking Objects

You can lock an object to edit it. As long as the object is locked, nobody else can modify it. To enable other users to modify an object, unlock it after modification.

Among other objects, functions, EE components, and software components can be locked. You must save the objects in the database to lock or unlock them.

This task shows you how to:

Lock or Unlock an Object

You can lock or unlock an object, provided that it is available in the tree.

Right-click an object and select Lock or Unlock .

The status changes as follows:

  • Lock: a green key symbol appears above the object's icon in the tree. You can now edit this object.
  • Unlock: the green key symbol disappears. Now you cannot modify the object, but another user can lock it and edit it.

Note: You can lock or unlock a multiselection of homogeneous elements, which have the same parent.

Lock or Unlock Objects Hierarchy

You can lock or unlock an object available in a tree with its hierarchy.

  1. Right-click the root element and select Unlock Hierarchy.
  2. Select the children objects to be unlocked.

The green key symbol disappears from the unlocked elements. No more modifications are possible for those elements.
