Defining Currents on Ports

You can add information concerning the current on consuming hardware components to characterize currents on ports.

This information is added to ECUs or to electrical devices, which have the Other value for their device type.

This task shows you how to:

Define a Current on an In Port

You can define a current on In ports.

This scenario describes the addition of a current for an electrical device. The scenario is identical for ECUs.

Before you begin: Create an electrical device with an In port.
  • The type of the port must have the subtechnology Power.
  • The device type must be Other.
  1. Select an input port and select the Electrical tab in the Properties view.
  2. To define the port as an electrical current sink, select Is current sink.
  3. For each current to be defined, enter these details to define a new current:

    Column Description
    Current name

Double-click the empty cell and enter a name.

    Current value

Double-click the empty cell and enter a value.

    Load usage

Double-click the empty cell and enter a value.

    Click elsewhere to validate.

Define a Current on an Out Port

You can define if the Out port is the source of the current.

Before you begin: Create an electrical device with an Out port.
  • The type of the port must have the subtechnology Power.
  • The device type must be Other.
  1. Select an output port and select the Electrical tab in the Properties view.
  2. To define the port as the source of the current, select Is current source.
