Creating VLANs

You can create a VLAN that is a channel of Ethernet type.

Note: With the Electrical, Electronics and Software Architect (ELAET) or Electrical and Control Architect (EEWCI) roles, you can work with Ethernet networks for Automotive or Industrial Equipment.

Before you begin:
  • Create a bus channel from the Ethernet connector type.
  • Instantiate the bus channel in the topology.
  1. In the topology, select the bus channel instance and access the Ethernet tab in Properties.
  2. Enter a value between 1 and 4094 (included) in the Identifier box.

Note: If the VLAN identifier is specified to -1, the channel is considered to be a physical segment and not a VLAN.

The bus becomes a VLAN and moves into the VLANs node of the topology.
