- Create a standalone product.
- From the Branch section of the action bar, click Protective
Covering
.
The Protective Covering Definition dialog box appears.
Parameters are displayed depending on the selected covering type.
- In the Name box, enter a name.
- In the Type list, select the protective covering
type of your choice.
There are four different types of protective covering:
- Fixed diameter: the diameter cannot
be modified.
- Adaptive diameter: the diameter
is automatically set to the largest diameter segment covered.
- Corrugated tube: a fixed diameter,
tube type covering.
- Tape: an adaptive diameter type covering
that wraps around segments in overlapping layers.
- Set the physical properties in the Parameter
Definition area.
The properties are displayed depending on the selected covering type.
Note: To set the stiffness
of the protective covering to be taken into account when computing segments using the FLEX
algorithm, use the Flexibility slider. The lower the value, the stiffer the protective covering.
For more information about the FLEX algorithm, see Using the FLEX Algorithm.
- In the Preferred length box, enter the length of the protective covering.
The Preferred length value will be used as the default length when placing coverings. - Do either of the following to define how protective
coverings will be represented on drawings:
- To set your own drawing line type, select a value in
the Line type list.
- To represent the covering in double line (projection)
mode, select the No line type
check box.
- Click OK.
- Store your protective covering in a dedicated catalog
or directly in the database.
- You can define a color for your protective covering. This color
will be kept when you place protective coverings over electrical branch geometry
segments. To define a color, edit covering properties.
- No customization (user geometry, knowledge parameters, etc.) is
supported. Any customization will be lost when placing coverings.
