Reviewing Scenario Results

Scenario results involve various data stored in tabular format, including probes, excitations (recorded excitations or law excitations) and engineering connection values (not used as excitations). You can export a subset of probes or excitations in a spreadsheet file, display them in an X-Y plot, and create customized curves once the simulation completes.

Before you begin: One probe or an excitation must be associated with a completed kinematics scenario.

About Reviewing Scenario Results
  1. From the Result section of the action bar, click View Scenario Results .
  2. Select the kinematics scenario whose probes, excitations, and engineering connections values you want to review.

Note: Alternatively you can select a result of scenario or several results of scenario first, and click View Results of Scenario .
Note: For Law Excitations, Velocity law Excitations, Position Motor Excitations and Velocity Motor Excitations, the values of the forces and torques applied to a product during a dynamics scenario are displayed in the scenario results.

The View Results of scenario dialog box appears.
  3. In the Specifications tab, select the parameters to be reviewed. All parameters are selected by default:
    • To add a parameter, select the check box in the Show column.
    • To remove a parameter, clear the check box in the Show column.
    Important:
    • The value of any engineering connection defined with a controlled constraint and not used as an excitation appears in the Specifications tab.
    • If you created a scenario with flexible objects, a length parameter specific for branches appears in the list (Specifications and Table tabs).
  4. To add all parameters, click Select All.
  5. To remove all parameters, click Deselect All.
  6. To create an additional parameter that does not involve time versus another existing parameter:
    1. Click New Curve.
The XY Selection dialog box appears.
    2. Select the parameter value for X.
    3. Select the parameter value for Y.
The new parameter appears in the specifications table.
  7. Select the desired probes and excitations to keep and click Save.
A Plot node is created under the Result of scenario node in the tree.
  8. To display the results in an X-Y plot, click the Plot tab.
The X-Y plot appears, and a curve is created for each probe and each excitation that is selected in the scenario. If you selected several results of scenario, the created curves appear in a single X-Y plot along the same X-axis as long as they have the same time limits and time step for the kinematics simulation. Time limits and time step values are specified in the Parameters tab of the Kinematics Scenario dialog box.
  9. To send kinematics scenario results to a spreadsheet file (.xls format), click the Table tab and click or .
    • If you click , the spreadsheet file is saved to a directory of your choice.
    • If you click :
      • The spreadsheet file is saved to your local CATTemp directory.
      • A reference to the spreadsheet file is created in the Results section of the tree under the Documents node.
      • If you later save the simulation, the kinematics scenario results you generated are automatically saved in the database as attached documents.
