Branching Segments

Managing Branch Points

A branch point splits a segment into two separate segments and lets you branch a new segment on the branch point.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create at least one branch.

Create a Standard Branch Point

You can add a new standard branch point by selecting a point as reference object. The standard branch point is positioned at a defined distance from its referenced point.

  1. From the Branch section of the action bar, click Branch Point .
  2. Click the curve.
A context toolbar dedicated to the edition of branch points appears to let you position the standard branch point on the curve.

Warning: When creating a branch point on a flat cable, both profiles at the junction of both segments are automatically oriented in the same direction.

Create an Associative Branch Point

You can add a new associative branch point by selecting a plane or a planar surface as reference object. The associative branch point is positioned at the intersection between the reference and the branch curve.

  1. From the Branch section of the action bar, click Branch Point , and then click the branch curve.
  2. Click Change to Associative Branch Point .
  3. In the work area, select a plane or a planar surface.
