Defining a Backshell

You can define a backshell and add an electrical behavior to a standard 3D shape.

A backshell is used to guide the ends of conductors and to protect the crimping area.

  1. Double-click a 3D shape representation or an electrical device in the tree.
  2. In the BackShell Definition dialog box, specify a part number.
  3. In the Extra length box, type a value.

Note: The Extra Length corresponds to the conductor length which is needed to connect a segment with a single insert connector through a backshell.

  4. Click OK to validate.

The selected part is now an electrical backshell.
