About Electrical Devices

A certain number of properties are assigned at product level. Therefore, you must create a product or a 3D part for each electrical device you create.

The 3D shape representation contains the geometry. You can either:

• Create the geometry from scratch.
• Insert the geometry from the database into the product .
• Open a product with both a 3D shape representation and geometry from the database.

Once defined, electrical devices can be stored in dedicated catalogs or directly in the database.

A 3D part is an object composed of a product with a 3D representation. You can check the status of a 3D part by selecting Usage: 3D Part in the Properties context menu.

The main characteristic of a 3D part is to have a "Terminal node" behavior and the impossibility to delete the link between the product and the representation; the 3D shape is a mandatory representation.

When you create an electrical branch geometry, a 3D part is automatically created.

Moreover, you can create a 3D part to define it as an electrical device.

The electrical branch geometry or device inherits the 3D part's properties such as deleting, duplicating, versioning, or changing maturity.
