Using Customized Types

The Immersive Branch Creation command allows you to use the Electrical customizable feature resource to create a branch or a segment with customized types and attributes (variables).

The resource can also be used with the Classical Branch Creation command. The scenario is identical to the one described below.

Important: You cannot add multiple customized types to a single branch or segment.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  • Create customized types in the Know-how Apps Components app.

    For more information, see Know-how Apps Components User's Guide: Creating Types.

  • Assign your know-how apps components to a resource table in the Electrical Features Customization resources resource set.

    For more information, see Data Setup User's Guide: Creating a Resource Table.

  • Open a product containing an electrical geometry containing at least one branch.

Create a Customized Branch

You can create a specialized branch with customized types and attributes.

  1. In the Electrical 3D Part Design app, select a branch.
  2. From the Branch section of the action bar, click Immersive Branch Creation.
    The Branch Properties panel appears.
  3. Under General Parameters, click Custom branch .

    Important: The command is unavailable if:
    • No resource is assigned for Electrical customizable feature.
    • No customized type for Electrical customizable feature corresponds to the selected feature.

    The Types Browser dialog box appears. Under the Branch node, the available customized types are displayed in hierarchical order.
  4. Select a customized type, and then click OK.

    Tip: You can type a string in the Filter box to search for a type.

    • In the Branch Properties panel, the name of the selected customized type appears next to Custom branch.
    • In the tree, under the node of the selected branch, a new node displays the name of the selected customized type and its attributes (Variables node).
  5. Press Enter or click in the 3D area to validate.
    The customized branch is created.
  6. Optional: To remove a customized type or to add a different customized type, do either of the following:
    • In the Branch Properties panel, right-click the customized type and select Reset Type.
    • In the tree, right-click the customized type and select Delete.

Important:
  • Once the customized branch is created, the Custom branch command is no longer available in the Immersive Branch Creation panel.
  • When you edit a customized branch, the Custom branch command remains unavailable.
  • The last used type is always preset in the panel when you add a new customized branch to your electrical branch geometry.
  • If you create a branch point and split the customized branch, the new branch has the same customized attributes as the initial branch.

Create a Customized Segment

You can create a specialized segment with customized types and attributes.

  1. In the Electrical 3D Part Design app, select a branch.
  2. From the Branch section of the action bar, click Immersive Branch Creation.
    The Branch Properties panel appears.
  3. Select the Segment tab.
  4. Under General Parameters, click Custom segment .

    Important: The command is unavailable if:
    • No resource is assigned for Electrical customizable feature.
    • No customized type for Electrical customizable feature corresponds to the selected feature.

    The Types Browser dialog box appears. Under the Segment node, the available customized types are displayed in hierarchical order.
  5. Select a customized type, and then click OK.

    Tip: You can type a string in the Filter box to search for a type.

    • In the Branch Properties panel, the name of the selected customized type appears next to Custom segment.
    • In the tree, under the node of the selected segment, a new node displays the name of the selected customized type and its attributes (Variables node).
  6. Press Enter or click in the 3D area to validate.
    The customized segment is created.
  7. Optional: To remove a customized type or to add a different customized type, do either of the following:
    • In the Branch Properties panel, right-click the customized type, and select Reset Type.
    • In the tree, right-click the customized type, and select Delete.

Important:
  • Once the customized segment is created, the Custom segment command is no longer available in the Immersive Branch Creation panel.
  • When you edit a customized segment, the Custom segment command remains unavailable.
  • The last used type is always preset in the panel when you add a new customized segment.
  • If you create a branch point and split the customized segment, the new segment has the same customized attributes as the initial segment.
