Using Manufacturing Tool

You can cross-highlight the elements between the harness data and the corresponding flattened data. You can also generate the Bill Of Material (BOM), the report comparing the flattened source data with the target harness data.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  • Flatten the harness data.
  • From the standard area of the action bar, click Manufacturing Tool . The manufacturing option, Cross highlight, is available only for the flattened data.

Cross-Highlight Elements

You can cross-highlight the segment, device, support, branch, protection, conductor, conductor group, mechanical part, and electrical geometry between the flattened data and the harness data. You can also select the table generated using Table Management to cross-highlight segments, protections, devices, and supports on that table.

  1. From the Manufacturing Options list, select Cross highlight.
  2. Select any of the following elements from the harness data or the flattened data:
    • The segment, device, and support from the 3D area or the tree.
    • The branch, protection, wire, wire group, mechanical part, and electrical geometry from the tree.
    • The table generated using Table Management.
    • When you select the required element from the harness data, its linked element from the flattened data is highlighted.
    • When you select the required element from the flattened data, its linked element from the harness data is highlighted.
Note: If multiple instances of harness data are open, the elements are highlighted from the harness data that the app first finds.

Generate Bill of Material

You can generate and export the Bill Of Material (BOM) comparing the quantities of devices, supports, conductors, conductor groups, and mechanical parts of the flattened source data with the target harness data.

  1. From the Manufacturing Options list, select BOM Comparison.
  2. Select the root product of the required target harness data.
The BOM comparison report is generated displaying below columns:
    • Element Type: The type of each element listed in the BOM comparison report
    • Element name: The name of each element (devices, supports, wires, wire groups, and mechanical parts) present in the source and target harness data.
    • Quantity in source harness: The number of instances of the corresponding element present in the source data.
    • Quantity in target harness: The number of instances of the corresponding element present in the target data.

You can drag the BOM report out of the 3DEXPERIENCE window.

  3. Select the required row to cross-highlight its corresponding elements in the flatten and the harness data.
  4. To reframe the elements from the row in the flatten data, right-click the required row and select Reframe On.
  5. Click to export the report in an excel sheet.
