Managing Routes between Electrical Components

Breaking/Merging Wires

You can merge or break wires.

This task shows you how to:

Merge Wires

You can merge two wire routes.

This command can be applied on the following electrical features:

  • Wire
  • Cable
  • Cable group
  • Net
  • Net group

Before you begin: Open an existing diagram view containing:
  • Two connected components
  • Two wire references with one end unconnected
  1. Select the wire which attributes will be applied to the second wire during the merging process.
The unconnected end of the wire is highlighted.

  2. Select the second wire.
    The two wires merge.

A wire route with both connected to a component is created.

Breaking a Wire

You can break a wire to create two separate wires.

Note: This command is available for routes in orthogonal and straight-line mode.

This command can be applied on the following electrical features:

  • Wire
  • Cable
  • Cable group

Before you begin: Open an existing diagram view containing two connected components.
Click the wire at the required location to create the breaking point.

Two separate wire routes are created. Each route has one of its ends unconnected.
