Creating an Electrical Port

You can create the following electrical logical ports:

  • A pin
  • A shell connector port
  • An equipment connector port
  • A terminal

For the purpose of this scenario, you will create a logical equipment connector port.


Before you begin: Create an electrical component.
  1. In the New Content dialog box, expand the Electrical Logical tab and right-click Logical Connector Port.
  2. Optional: Select the Set attributes at creation option.

    Note: This option remains selected when creating the same type of component.

  3. Click Logical Connector Port.
  4. In the Logical Connector Port dialog box, enter a name.
  5. Select a direction for your electrical port: In, Out, In/Out or No Direction.
  6. Click OK in the Logical Connector Port dialog box.
  7. Select one of the following options:
    • No System Type: to associate your logical port with no system type.
    • Associate Existing System Type: to associate your logical port with an existing system type.
    • Associate New System Type: to associate your logical port with a new system type.

  8. Click Finish to create the port and close the System Type Association dialog box.
