Selecting a Physical Connector

You can define a physical connector (part number) to retrieve the logical connector for a terminal block or a production break (disconnect).

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin:
  • Generate the wiring data.
  • Open the wiring and net system.
  • Compute the gauges of the cables and wires.
  • Define a library containing authorized production break and terminal blocks.

  • In the Data Setup > Electrical Specifications Resources resource set, assign an electrical specification resource with the tables and the filter to the Default Electrical Resources.

Select a Physical Connector

You can select a physical object from a library or from Engineering Specification Capture & Reuse.

  1. Select one of the following elements:
    • An interface volume or a derivation volume
    • A terminal block or a disconnect
    • A connector from the terminal block or disconnect (terminal or pin).
  2. From the Net to Wire section of the action bar, click Wiring Definition Assistant .
  3. In the Active Harness list, select a harness.
  4. Click one of the following commands:
    • Physical from Library .
    • Select Physical .
  5. In the Library Browser dialog box, select a connector.
  6. Click Apply Selection .

Select a Compatible Connector

For interface volume, you can find the logical counter part of the compatible physical part number.

Before you begin:
  • Create a compatibility table.
  • Define a physical part number.
  1. Click Find Compatible Connectors .
  2. Click Apply Selection .
