Creating Templates for Layout/Sheet/View Structures

You can create a template for layout/sheet/view structures, using the Engineering Templates app.

Note: When creating a layout/sheet/view structure from a template, the frame and title block are automatically updated.

  1. In the Electrical Systems Design app, create a layout containing a sheet with a view and save it.

  2. From the top bar, click Add > Content.
  3. In the New Content dialog box, expand the Types node, and select Engineering Templates.
    The Engineering Templates app opens.
  4. From the Engineering Template section of the action bar, click Add Reference to Template Definition .
  5. Select the layout created in Electrical Systems Design.
  6. In Engineering Templates, from the Components tab, select a Behavior at Instantiation for each layout and sheet.

Note: By default, layouts and sheets are duplicated when the template is instantiated.

  7. Save the template and add it to the catalog. For more information, see Design IP Classification user's guide.
  8. From the Electrical Systems Design app, double-click the logical reference containing your layout.
  9. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Catalog Browser .
  10. From the Insert Object dialog box, select the template and click OK.

The template is added to the layout.
