Inserting a Symbol on Another Symbol

You can insert a symbol and connect it to another one.

Important:

You can only insert a connector on an equipment and reciprocally.

Before you begin: Open an existing diagram view containing:
  • A logical reference under the Logical node
  • A route between two symbols
  1. In the tree, right-click the logical reference and select Insert Existing Logical Component.
The Select an existing logical component dialog box appears.
  2. Click From Session tab, and click Retrieve Loaded Data.
  3. In the list, select the connector reference.

Important: You can insert an existing connector or equipment reference from a catalog or existing in session.

  4. Click OK to close the Select an existing Logical component dialog box.
The Route Command dialog box appears.
  5. Move the symbol over the other one.

Your pointer turns to a hand when a port is selected:

  6. Click to validate the insertion.
    The symbol is connected.

    Important:

You can only connect connector ports between them:

    • From an existing connection point mapped with a connector port.
    • Otherwise, a connection point mapped with the first connector port encountered is created.

If there is no connector port, neither connection point nor connection will be created.

Note: The inserted symbol can be rotated to make coincident connector ports.
