Creating an Equipment Reference

You can create an equipment reference and instantiate it in the tree.

When you create an equipment, you can define a symbol representation of the component in Data Setup and insert it in a diagram view. If no representation is found for this type of equipment, a representation is searched among its fathers' type.

Before you begin:

For the purpose of this scenario, you will define a symbol representation in the Data Setup and insert it in a diagram view.

  1. Activate the diagram view.
  2. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Create New Reference .
    The New Content dialog box appears.
  3. Expand the Equipment Logical tab and right-click Equipment.
  4. Optional: Select the Set attributes at creation option.

    Note: This option remains selected when creating the same type of component.

  5. Click Equipment.
    The Equipment dialog box appears.
  6. Enter a name and click OK to close the Equipment dialog box.
    The equipment reference is created and instantiated in the tree.

    The equipment symbol appears in the diagram view and follows your pointer. The component can be placed in a diagram view. For more information, see Placing Equipments.
