Defining a Componnent as a Container

You can define an equipent as a container to place in the diagram view components symbols inside the container in a second time.

Before you begin:
  • Open a system containing an equipment with a symbol representation.
  • Place the equipment symbol in a diagram view.
  1. In the tree, right-click the equipment symbol reference and select Properties > Symbol Reference Properties tab.
  2. Select one of the following options depending on the type of container to be created:
    • Geographical container to create a geographical container
    • Composite to create a composite container.
    • Geographical container and Composite to create a composite container.

Note: For more information about the different type of container, see About Containers.

You can now place any equipment or logical component except routes in the equipment container. Once the component is released in the container, both container and containee are highlighted, showing that component are graphically linked.
Note: When replaced by a container symbol, the initial symbol is kept in the diagram view and integrated to the container. The initial symbol is no longer linked with its represented object.
