Enabling Part Float

As an administrator, you can prevent/enable users to float part revisions across assemblies and structures. By default, this feature is disabled. Only administrators with admin_platform login credentials can enable/disable this feature. Enabling or disabling this feature affects all apps.

All users can view the icon that indicates whether later revisions of parts are available, regardless of whether this feature is disabled or enabled. Only users who have the roles listed below can float parts. Therefore, enabling or disabling this feature affects only them:

  • Design Engineer
  • Senior Design Engineer
  • Author
  • Leader

When the feature disabled, part revisions do not automatically float to their parent assemblies. To update the child part to its latest revision with the feature disabled, users must manually update the assemblies to the latest revision using toolbar menu commands. When the feature is enabled, updates become automatic.

The Automatic Float on EBOM Process option enables automatic part floating. To enable automatic part floating, this option must be selected.

  1. Log in as admin_platform.
  2. In the 3DDashboard, select the Content tab.
  3. Under Collaborative Space Configuration Center, click Engineering Part Automation. You may need to scroll through the list to find it.
  4. Select Automate Float of EBOM to Latest released.

Once the feature is activated, the part float option is available.
