Proposed
Markups can be created on development parts only if the part has not
yet reached the Complete state in its lifecycle. A Design Engineer or Senior
Design Engineer who is a member of the responsible design organization
associated to the development part can create a markup.
The creator of the markup becomes its owner and is the only one with
authority to apply or reject the markup. The BOM markup does not change
ownership unless the owner delegates the markup to another authorized Design or
Senior Design Engineer in the same organization.
The owner of the markup can:
- Delete the development BOM markup (in the Proposed state only).
- Reject the development BOM markup.
- Apply the development BOM markup.
Applied
When the owner or the delegate of the markup promotes the proposed
development BOM markup to the Applied state, this applies the markup to the
associated development part. The markup must be promoted to the Applied state
before the part can be promoted to the Complete state.
Rejected
The owner or the delegate of the markup can reject the proposed
markup. This serves to capture the decision to reject rather than just deleting
the markup.
A development part cannot transition to a production part (via the
"set to production" process) until all development BOM markups connected to the
development part have been deleted, applied, or rejected.
An Item Markup does not apply to the development part policy. Any
attribute changes will be made to the part directly during the development
phase of the part and will not require a markup.
