Requirements for Moving Objects Between Lifecycle States

Whether you can move a change-required, development phase part or specification object between lifecycle states depends on the factors described below. If the development part is not change-required, the Author, Owner, or Leader can demoted or promote the part to any state.

Promote/Demote access is Change-required, user cannot manually Promote/Demote the object.

Frozen to Released (For EC Parts)

Frozen to Approved (for Specifications)

The active Collaborative space owns the content.
Approved to Frozen No Access. A user with either the Author, Owner, or Leader role must create a new revision to change the object.
Released to Frozen No Access

Released to Obsolete

Obsolete to Released

No Access
Note: *Specifications include CAD Model, CAD Drawing, Drawing Print, Part Specification. For parts and specifications, Review and Approved states are mapped to Frozen state.
