Opening BOM Markups

This task describes how to view BOM markup.

  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Select the BOM markups to view and select Markup Actions > Open from the page toolbar. If you want to view multiple markups, they must be of the same type.

The Bill of Materials page opens, showing selected BOM markups with changes made. The BOM contains the following columns.

On premises only: This table is configurable, so your organization’s BOMs may show different information.
    Column Description
    ** BOM Attributes section:
Name Name of the component part. This column contains highlighted links. Click any name in this column to view the Properties page for that object.
Type The part type or subtype.
Conflict Queue Contains an icon ( ) if conflicts exist when one or more BOM markups are accessed. A markup conflict can also arise if a part is removed from the BOM when there are other changes to the same part instance in the markup, or replacement and deletion operations of the same part in different markups. See Applying a BOM Markup.
    Revision Revision number or code.
State The current state of the part in its lifecycle.
F/N The find number is an ID that is used on drawings as “bubble” callouts. Find numbers must be unique at any given level in the BOM. They are usually integer values: 1, 2, 3…
Qty he quantity of the selected part included in the BOM.
    Unit of Measure Unit of Measure: LB(pound), IN(inch), GA(gallon), FT(feet), EA(each).
Ref Des The reference designator ID is used on printed circuit cards to indicate the location an electronic component is to be inserted. Reference designators are usually values like R1, R2, R7, C1, or C5 (R for resistor and C for capacitor).
Component Location Similar to Reference Designator, the component location is used to give additional location information and/or can be used by industries other than electronics. For example, it can be used to indicate which motor is failing all the time, the one by the window or the one by the furnace.
Collaborative Policy The policy for the part.
    Description Details about the part.
Usage Standard, Reference, Per Sales Order, or As Required.
Part Family The name of the part family to which the part belongs.

  3. Select a Plant from the list to view the part's plant-specific attributes for that plant. Shown for plant BOM markups only when Manufacturing BOM Management is installed, the plant assigned as the default manufacturing responsibility for the BOM is displayed and all other plants that have manufacturing responsibility for the BOM are included in the plant list.
  4. For plant BOM markups only when Manufacturing BOM Management is installed, you can make modifications, as required. You can make changes using either in-cell editing (to change one cell at a time) or Mass Update (to change multiple items at one time).

To use in-cell editing, click the cell you to change.

    To use Mass Update:

    1. To make changes only to certain items, select the items.
    2. From the Mass Update menu, select the attribute you want to change.
Depending on which attribute you choose, you will see one of the following: a box, a list, a calendar, or a chooser.
    3. Select or enter the change you want to make.
    4. Click Apply to Selected or Apply to All.

The Name column shows to indicate which items have been changed. Changes are shown in the table cells in italics.

  5. For plant BOM markups only, from the page Markup menu, click Save Markup or Save Markup As to save the markup and select a change order.
    • Using Save Markup As creates one markup. This also allows you to select a different name for the markup.
    • Using Save Markup creates as many markups as the number of parent parts affected.
    1. If using Save Markup As, enter a Name for the markup.
    2. Type a Description.
    3. Click Done.
