Creating Interference Simulations using Engineering Connections

You can create an interference simulation using an engineering connection as a specification. This also optimizes the interference simulation by avoiding the computation of defined unwanted interferences.

This task shows you how to:

Define Check Specification

You can define the check specifications for the engineering connections.

  1. Double-click the defined constraint in the tree.
The Engineering Connection Definition dialog box appears.
  2. In the Interferences tab, select among the following check specifications:

    • Default: Uses default check specification and generates the result with actual interferences by default.
    • Check: Sets the defined specification (clash, clearance or contact) for the interference and displays the result accordingly after computation. For example, if you set Contact for the interference having Clash and compute the interference simulation selecting the Check Contact check box, results do not include that interference.
    • No check: Computes the interference simulation without considering the respective interferences.
Based on the check specification, the interferences are checked during simulation.

Repeat this operation for all engineering connections and specify the required interference types to check during interference simulation.

Create an Interference Simulation

You can create an interference simulation using the interference specification defined in the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box.

  1. In the Specifications tab, specify the interference simulation specifications.
  2. Select the Activate check box under Engineering connection specification, and select the required specifications.
    • Check No Clash: Identifies only clashes
    • Check Contact: Identifies clashes and clearances
    • Check Clearance: Identifies clashes, contacts, and clearances with a distance less than the specified minimum value of the clearance
    • No Check: Avoids computation for the interferences with specifications set as No Check in the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box.

Note: If you define both, the standard and the engineering connection specifications:
    • The simulation is computed based on the engineering connections specified for the applicable elements under the context.
    • The simulation is computed based on the standard specifications for the remaining elements under the context.

  3. Click OK.

The interference simulation is computed and the results are displayed in the tree.
