Creating an Object in the Spreadsheet

You can create an object in a Spreadsheet.

Create a New Object

You can create an object by inserting a new row in the table or by duplicating an existing row.

Command Description
New Row Creates an empty row at the same level as the selected object. This lets you create a new object in your model.
New Child Creates an empty row at a child level. This lets you create a new subcomponent in your model, under the selected object.
Duplicate Row Duplicates the selected row at the same level.

These commands are available:

  • In the menu, with the Anchor Balloon mode.

    By default, this mode is selected.

  • Above the selected row, with the Free Balloon mode.

  1. To create an object:
    1. Select an object.
    2. Click New Row or New Child .
    3. Optional: If you work in a configured environment, the Define Effectivity dialog box appears to let you assign an effectivity to the object.

    4. In the Type column, click the cell to expand the list of the available types and select one.
  2. To duplicate an object, click Duplicate Row .
    Important: A port cannot be duplicated.
  3. To create or duplicate several objects, do one of the following:
    • Multiselect objects and click the command.
    • Double-click the command.

    Important: In a configured environment, if you multiselect objects with different configurations, these commands are not available. For more information about configuration, see the Configured Engineering User's Guide.

Insert an Existing Object

You can insert an object from session or from the database.

  1. Select the row that will be parent of the inserted object.
  2. Click Insert Existing Object .
  3. To select an object, do one of the following:
    • Select an object in the tree or in the work area. A Filter symbol appears under your pointer to let you select an object in session.
    • Run a query using the Search field. The Search Results panel lets you select the existing object in the database. For more about the search functionality, see the 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps User's Guide.
  4. Optional: If you work in a configured environment, the Define Effectivity dialog box appears to let you assign an effectivity to the object.

    The object is inserted as a child of the selected row .
