About Exporting - Importing Technological Tables, Part Filters and Specifications

ESE lets you benefit from CATIA replication tools. You can export your specifications into a 3D XML (EXtensible Markup Language) file and then import this file into the database.

This page discusses:

Run the Export and Import Commands

The Export and Import commands run in ESE are used in the same way as in other apps.

  • To export the different objects to a 3D XML file, first query the entities of interest from the database (if necessary) then in the top bar, select Share > Export > 3D XML.

Tip: We recommend you use the Preview option to check the list of the objects you are exporting.

If one of the selected entities is not supported for export, none of the selections are exported, and the 3D XML file is not generated.

  • To import the 3D XML file into the database, in the top bar, select Add > Import > 3D XML .

Tip: We recommend you use the Preview option to check the list of the objects you are importing.

For reference information about the commands, see the Collaborative Lifecycle User's Guide

General Considerations

Because specifications are constructed with references to parts, components and materials contained in catalogs stored in the database, it is essential to ensure that these objects are present in the database.

For proper functioning of specifications, parts, components and materials must be exported and imported independently from specifications. Otherwise specifications are still effective but to the detriment of performance.

Export Technological Tables

Exporting a technological table automatically exports its content (its representation) and the tables possibly used by this table.

Export Part Filters

Exporting a part filter includes the export of its content (its representation) and the tables possibly used by this filter.

Concerning filters by extension, the export operation does not export the entities referenced by this filter type. It is assumed that the filter adapts its search to the entities declared in database.

Export Specifications

Exporting a specification includes the export of its part filters and technological tables.
