Comparing Specifications

You can compare Specifications to see the differences among Specifications containing many objects.

Before you begin: Open a specification in Engineering Specification Capture & Reuse.
  1. From the Engineering Specification Edition section of the action bar, click Compare Specifications .
The current active specification is the one that will be compared and the Specification Comparison dialog box appears.
  2. In the list, select the specification to be compared to the selected one.

Only specifications that are already opened in the session are displayed in the list.

A table appears in the dialog box showing objects grouped by type and the different status of each object. There are three possible status:
    • Identical Objects: The two objects are identical.
    • Subitem:
      • Subtable: One table is the subtable of another.
      • Contained: The filter units of one filter are contained in the other.
    • They are different. No similar object has been found in the other specification.
  3. Right-click a row or multiple rows and do one of the following:
    • Create a subitem in the left or right specification
    • Add an item in the left and/or right specification
    • Remove an item from the left and/or right specification
Note: The options in the context menu appear only if they are relevant.
