About the People and Organization Tools

You have access to several tools to work with people, organizations, and content.

This page discusses:

Recommended Apps for Administrative Tasks

Several tools are available to work with people, organizations, and content. This table lists the preferred tool for each platform type:

In addition, the Legacy ENOVIA Web Apps Customization Guide provides information for a developer or an architect to create custom apps or functionality. Do not use the information in that guide to perform any of the functions listed in the above table.

Configurable Environment

You can use simple tuning tools to configure read and write access, and business process rules. The baseline values for these rules support most business processes.

Warning: Although you can view source code and resource files used by the app (using a Java editor or MQL), do not modify any code. Only configure your system as explicitly described in this guide.

You can adopt one of these approaches:

  • If you work alone or in a small team and you want to work without authorizations, log in as Owner in the context of a single collaborative space, and keep your content in the In Work maturity status without any versioning.
  • Take advantage of all the tools to manage your content. Log in as Administrator using the Administrator.Company Name.Default credentials to configure your organizations, collaborations spaces, and users.

Content Security

Read and write access to content is secured as follows:

  • Each user is assigned to one or several secured collaborative spaces with a specific role, to manage the different categories of end user content.
  • Users can have different roles in different collaborative spaces. For example, a supplier user can have an Author role in the supplier organization's collaborative space, and a Reader role in the host company's collaborative space.
  • The content has a lifecycle composed of several states, and can be versioned based on the current lifecycle state, the access level of the user, and the access rules defined by the business administrator.
  • The role and the lifecycle state of the content determines if the user can or cannot read or author the content.

About User Credentials

Administrator users assign one or more credentials to users that define how users connect to 3DSpace services, that is, the 3DPassport login screen.

Credentials are defined as:

<role>.<organization>.<collaborative space>

When the person logs in, the person chooses their credentials. That person can only work within those credentials.

Persons can belong to hierarchical organizations, and assigned to operational organizations. When you define a person, you select a organization that they are an employee in, and any other organizations that they are members of. To assign roles to persons and give them access to collaborative spaces, you assign credentials to them. Within your operational organization, a person can be assigned more than one role or belong to multiple operational organizations within one or more collaborative spaces. You can assign multiple credentials to that person as needed for them to do their job.

Installed Sample Data and Users

If the Set Up Demo Data option was checked during the installation, the app provides ready-to-use roles and collaborative spaces which are useful for test and demonstration purposes. The install also creates these users:

  • Administration User
  • admin_platform

admin_platform is the default name for the Administrator. The Administrator can use the 3DEXPERIENCE Administration Console to create new persons for industrial use.
