Determining Access Rights Based on App-specific Access Roles

You can use this procedure to troubleshoot access issues. Access to a command or content depends on the user's access role, the lifecycle state of the content.

For apps that use the baseline roles and generic lifecycle, you can use the tables in to determine if a user has access to content based on the user's access role and the content's current lifecycle state.

  1. Determine the user's role.

Most user's are assigned a baseline access role (for more information, see About Baseline Access Roles). For users assigned app-specific roles, determine which baseline role the app-specific role maps to. The user assistance for the app includes a mapping table in the Access to Content topic.

  2. Determine the content category for the content type.

The user assistance for the app lists the content category for each type of content, such as Definition or Evaluation in the Access to Content topic.

  3. Determine the which baseline state the app state maps to.

The administrator guide for the app includes mapping tables.

  4. Use the tables in Baseline Responsibilities to determine the access for the user role for that content category in that lifecycle state.
