Restricting Access with Protection Classes in Dashboard Apps

You can apply protection classifications to 3DEXPERIENCE objects in 3DDashboard apps. You can also add and remove protection classifications from the object.

Before you begin:
  • The IP Security Manager or the IP Controlled Access role is required.
  • Save all changes in the product structure before adding or removing protection classifications from an object.
  1. Open an object, such as a physical product or its subtype, in the 3DDashboard.
  2. Open the Properties panel.
  3. Click the IP Protection and Export Control tab.

Note: The IP Protection and Export Control tab only displays in the object's context view.

If an object is protected, the following details are listed:
    Column Name Description
Title The title of the security class.
Name The automatically generated name of the security class.
Parent The parent library or class title of the object. You must have access to view the parent title.
    Type Type of security class.
Description The description of the security class.
Owner The current user responsible for the security class.

(with remove access) (without remove access)

Click to disconnect the class from the object. If you do not have access to remove, then click to view the unauthorized user message.
Note: The IP Security Manager role is required to remove an IP security classification from the object.
  4. To classify an object, select one IP security class from the list.

    Notes:
    • Classes display if you have access to the class.
    • Protection is restricted for certain object types. An error message displays if the object is not a valid classifiable type.

  5. Click Add.
  6. After adding or removing protection classifications on an object, refresh the product structure before making further modifications.

The object is classified according to the selected class and added to the list of protected objects. The classification is applied only to the context object and not to the related objects.

Note: The number of selected classes under which the object is classified displays below the Classes list.
