Exporting 3DEXPERIENCE Content with NX® Master to 3D XML

You can export 3DEXPERIENCE content with NX® master to 3D XML using the Export command or the Export 3D XML batch. This enables OEMs to export data to an authoring 3D XML file that can be shared with the suppliers.

You can select and export 3DEXPERIENCE products and drawings with NX® master. The following NX® objects are exported:

  • Parts
  • Assemblies
  • Drawings
  • Parts created from families
  • Parts connected with wavelinks.

The exported 3D XML file can be imported "as reference" but not "as new." Exported data must have been created or saved in Design with NX R2021xFD07 or later or you cannot import it into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Likewise, you cannot import the 3D XML file to an earlier version of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

  1. Search for the object you want to export.
  2. From the top bar, click Share > Export.
    The Export dialog box appears.
  3. From the Format options, select 3DXML with Authoring.

The 3D XML with authoring export format does not generate the review part of the content.NX® content does not support 3D XML for review format.

  4. Select the Target and Location, and enter a Filename.
  5. Under the General tab, from the Completion Options, select With all representations.

NX® content does not support any other completion options.

    Notes:
    • NX® content is always exported with the whole structure. Therefore, with the Export command, the Whole structure and Propagate operations to all children options have no effect.

With the Export 3D XML batch, you must select the All children option.

    • The With configuration and Compatibility mode options do not have any effect on NX® content.
    • When you export NX® content with the Export command, you can only select the root node and the To be exported operation. Other operations are not available.
    • Delegation and Waive are only possible when using the batch mode.
      Important:
      • Delegations are not automatically transferred to children.
      • 3DEXPERIENCE content with CAD master exported without delegation can be edited by users in dashboard apps after import. However, they cannot edit it in native apps.
      • 3DEXPERIENCE content with NX® master exported without delegation from Site 1 and imported to Site 2 can be edited from Site 2 in NX®.
      • 3DEXPERIENCE content with NX® master exported with delegation from Site 1 and imported to Site 2 can still be edited from Site 1 in NX®.

  6. You can do one of the following actions:
    • Click Simulate if you want to view all the properties of the data to be exported.
    • Click OK to save the settings and export the data to the specified location.
    • Click Cancel if you do not want to export the data with the current options.
