Exporting 3DEXPERIENCE Content with SOLIDWORKS Master to 3D XML

You can export 3DEXPERIENCE content with SOLIDWORKS master to 3D XML using the Export command or the Export 3D XML batch. This enables OEMs to export data to an authoring 3D XML file that can be shared with the suppliers.

Important: Physical Products corresponding to assemblies *.sdlasm or parts *.sldprt are supported. Drawings corresponding to *.slddrw are not supported.

  1. Search for the object you want to export. From the top bar, click Share > Export.
  2. In the Export dialog box, select Format as 3D XML with Authoring. Under the General tab, the following options are available:

    • Completion Options: Only the with all representations option is supported for Design with SOLIDWORKS data. Selecting with 3D Shape representations only or without any representation options returns an error. Select the all children option for export.
Note: Since the entire structure is taken into account, Completion considers all the relative families and all configurations of families.
    • 3DEXPERIENCE content with SOLIDWORKS master data is always exported with the whole structure. Options such as With whole structure, With configuration, and With Compatibility do not have any effect on Design with SOLIDWORKS data.
    Notes:
    • If export is done from the Product Structure Editor when a configuration is open, completion considers all children by default.
    • 3D XML export using the with authoring option does not generate the review part of the data.
    • For 3DEXPERIENCE content with SOLIDWORKS master data, only the root node can be selected, and To be exported, To be delegated, and To be waived operations are possible.
    • The Compatibility mode option is not available.
    • If you select XCAD objects other than physical products, an error is displayed.

  3. You can do one of the following actions:
    • Click Simulate if you want to view all the properties of the data to be exported.
    • Click OK to save the settings made and export the data to the specified location.
    • Click Cancel if you do not want to export the data with the current options.
