Services Specification Lifecycle

The Services Specification policy governs Services Specifications used to define a Services Product. Only a person with the Leader access role and Services Product Manager or Services Product Developer license role can create, approve, reject, release, and cancel Services Specifications, although other users can download them.

If the Services Specification is under change control, the Change Order and Change Action control the promotion from one state to the next. If the Services Specification is cancelled prior to approval, it becomes governed by the Services Specification Cancelled policy.

Create

A Services Specification is created in the Create state. Only a person with the Leader access role and Services Product Manager or Services Product Developer license role can create Services Specifications. In this state, only the owner of the Services Specification can modify it.

When ready, the owner of the Services Specification can promote it to the Draft state.

Draft

People with the Leader, Author, or Reader access roles can download the Services Specification. People with the Leader or Author access roles can modify the Services Specification, including checking documents in and out.

When ready, the owner of the Services Specification can promote it to the Review state. At least one file must be checked into the Services Specification.

Review

People with the Leader, Author, or Reader access roles can download the Services Specification.

When ready, the owner of the Services Specification can promote it to the Release state. At least one file must be checked into the Services Specification.

Release

People with the Leader, Author, or Reader access roles can download the Services Specification.

Obsolete

The Services Specification is no longer used and must not be used in projects. The Services Specification cannot be promoted, demoted, or deleted.
