Configuring Services Management

You can define which product classifications are available to users, and product composition rules. For more information, see About Administration Tools.

Required license role: Services Product Manager, Services Product Developer

Required access roles: Administrator

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  1. View the app categories for Services Management.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Administration.

Show or Hide Product Classifications

You can remove product classifications that your company does not use, and you can enable custom product classifications. Product classifications can be set when creating or editing a Services Product.

  1. Click the Classification tab.
  2. Choose Show or Hide for each product classification as required.

If your company defined extensions, those extensions also display in this list.

  3. Click Deploy All Parameters.

Define Product Composition Rules

You can define product composition rules that define what types of Services Products can be nested below other types of Services Products. For more information, see About Administration Tools.

  1. Click the Product Nesting tab.
  2. For each Parent product type, choose an option for each potential child type:

    • Several: any number (including zero or one) of this product type can be nested under the parent product type.
    • None: this product type cannot be nested under the parent product type.

If your company defined extensions, those extensions also display in the matrix. You can select None or Several from the filter list and click Set all to, then you only need to change the combinations that use the other option.

  3. Click Deploy All Parameters.

Define Product Content Rules

By default, the app does not define any document classifications. An Administrator with the Customization and Specialization Administrator license can use the Specialize Data Model to define document classifications. Users can select document classifications when creating or editing a Services Specification or Services Document.

  1. Click the Product Content tab.
  2. In the Define Product to Specification Composition Rules section, define usage of document classifications for Services Specifications. Choose Several or None for each document classification for each product classification as required.

You can select None or Several from the filter list and click Set all to, then you only need to change the combinations that use the other option. The matrix shows the extensions your company defined.

  3. In the Define Product to Reference Document Composition Rules section, define usage of document classifications for Services Documents. Choose Several or None for each document classification for each product classification as required.

You can select None or Several from the filter list and click Set all to, then you only need to change the combinations that use the other option. The matrix shows the extensions your company defined.

  4. Click Deploy All Parameters.

Define Lifecycle Behavior

By default, you can have multiple released product revisions at the same time and the product owners decide when each revision is used. You can change this behavior so that when a new product revision is released, it replaces the former revision in nested product structures.

If you want to retain the default behavior, you can skip this task.

  1. Click the Lifecycle Behavior tab.
  2. From the Servcies Product Float On Release list, select the required option.
