CAA File-based Design Import

File-based Design Import (FBDI) enables content migration from V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE.

This page discusses:

Common Import Behavior

This section describes the behavior of CATIA V5 data stored in legacy databases imported into 3DEXPERIENCE that is common to all connectors.

Considerations

You should take the following considerations into account:

Import Method
CAA partners can define how their containers are imported in 3DEXPERIENCE. For each container, they can choose to import it "As is" or to "Remove" it from the 3DEXPERIENCE component.

CAA partners create XML files that will be sent to users. These XML files should be saved in the same directory, defined in Me > Preferences > FBDI > FBDI General.

Import of CAA containers will be done at the same time as the import of the documents to which they belong accordingly to the migration mode defined in the XML file.

If you have documents with CAA data, but you do not have the corresponding XML file, the CAA data migration will not be possible and an error message will appear. This message also appears if you do not have checked the option Activate the CAA Data Import, in Me > Preferences > FBDI > FBDI General.

If you do not have the XML file of your partner, you can select the Remove CAA Containers that aren’t declared in CAA XML file check box. When import is run once the option is selected, a warning message is displayed for the CAA containers removed during the import and the import is allowed.
