Component Family Definition File-based Design Import

File-based Design Import (FBDI) enables content migration from V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE.

Considerations

You should take the following considerations into account:

During the import of a V5 part family (document .catalog files and collections of parts), if the parts have not been already imported, the system copies each component logical ID of the generic part to each parts component of the part family. This applies to:
  • The product reference
  • The 3D Shape reference
  • The instance of the 3D Shape
  • The publications (ports) on the 3D Part

This algorithm is run:

  • Only if the FBDI of the part family generic model is composed of a unique product and a unique representation (3D Part or Product and 3D Shape).
  • Successfully only if the catalog items have never been imported. Make sure that you import the catalog containing the part family definition first. This algorithm cannot be run if the family parts have been imported before the catalog.

Note: In standard mode, the system ensures that the components share the same logical IDs, which ensures the proper functioning of the algorithms of the family evolution. In FBDI mode, if you cannot ensure that the components share the same logical IDs, the first evolution of the items can only be done in the form of a clone of the generic model and not in the form of a version or of an overwriting of the original data.
