Associating a Section with a Track

You can associate a section with a track to determine the possible intersections of products with objects (such as wires) as the product moves along a dedicated track.

Before you begin:
  • Enter the 3D Simulation environment.
  • Create at least one section probe.
  • Create two tracks.
  • Create a scenario that includes the track and sections probe.

  1. Right-click on the first track and select Associate Section Probes.
The Associate Sections with Track: Track_Name dialog box appears.

  2. Select Section.1 and press the right arrow, then click Close.
Section.1 is associated with the track.
  3. Simulate the scenario.

When you start the simulation of the track, the section is positioned at the anchor point of the track. There is no separate anchor point definition for the section for a track.

During simulation, the cut section (or the section result) is updated at every time tick.

At the end of the simulation of the track, the section is at the end of the track.

When the simulation exits, the section is moved back to its original defined position.

  4. Right-click on the second track, and select Associate Section Probes.
The Associate Sections with Track: Track_Name dialog box appears.

The track associated with Section.1 is listed in the dialog box.
  5. Select Keep Assignments with Existing Tracks, select Section.1 and press the right arrow, then click Close.
The assignment of the section with Track.1 is kept. The section is also assigned to the second track.
Note: It is possible to assign the section to more than one track, although the tracks must not be not running in parallel in the scenario.
