Opening CATIA References, Representations and Favorites

You can open references and CATIA representations contained in a bookmark in Product Structure Design using Open and Open Advanced. You can also open favorites attached to the bookmark structure in the work area.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: The structure of the bookmark containing the objects you want to open using Open or Open Advanced must be expanded.

Open CATIA References and Representations using Open

You can open CATIA references and representations contained in a bookmark in Product Structure Design, in a new tab, using Open .

  1. In the work area, expand the bookmark structure that contains references or representations.
  2. Select the bookmark.
  3. Do either of the following:
    • Right-click the bookmark and click Open
    • Navigate to the Navigate section of the action bar and click Open .
    If you are authorized to open them, the CATIA references and representations contained in the bookmark are opened in Product Structure Design in a new tab. See Native Apps Preferences Guide:Content Access:Open for more information about file access privileges.
    Important: Only the references and representations contained in the selected bookmark will be opened.
  4. Right-click the selected bookmark and click Refresh and Collapse .
    The bookmark structure will collapse and you can continue working with bookmarks in the work area.

Open CATIA References and Representations using Open Advanced

You can open CATIA references and representations contained in a bookmark structure in Product Structure Design, as well as access options and specify conditions using Open Advanced .

  1. In the work area, expand the bookmark structure that contains references or representations.
  2. Select the bookmark.
  3. Do either of the following:
    • Right-click the bookmark and click Open Advanced
    • Navigate to the Navigate section of the action bar and click Open Advanced .
    The Open Advanced window appears.
    Important: Only the references and representations contained in the selected bookmark will be opened.
  4. Do the following in the Open Advanced window:
    1. Check With expanded children from database in the References section to expand the entire structure of the referenced object, including child objects.
    2. Select an option in the Representations section from the following:

      • With 3D Shape Representation to automatically open all part references along with their 3D representations in Product Structure Design.
      • Without any representation to open part references without loading their representations.
      • With all representations to open part references along with their representations.

    3. Check Lock the selected elements in the Other Options section to lock the object opened in Product Structure Design if you are allowed to do so.

      Important: Only selected objects are locked. If the selected object is a bookmark, no objects are locked.

  5. Click OK.

The CATIA references and representations are opened in Product Structure Design according to the conditions applied in the Open Advanced window.

Opening Favorites

You can open favorites attached to a bookmark structure in the work area.

  1. In the work area, expand the bookmark structure that contains favorites.
  2. Right-click the bookmark and click Open Favorites .

The favorite is opened and you see a message that confirms this.
