Merging Diagram Views

You can merge the content of several diagram views in a new one. Only 2D representation boxes are taken into account during the merging process.

Before you begin: Under a root system,
  • Create several function or logical components with a diagram view containing the content to be merged.
  • Create a function or logical component.
Note: The function merged content must be attached under a function reference and merged logical content must be placed under a logical reference.
  1. Select the desired diagram views.

    Notes:
    • If only one diagram view is selected, the merged view is a duplicate of the selected view.
    • If a component is placed in several diagram views, only the symbol found in the first selected diagram view is copied.
    • If a selected diagram view contains multiple representations of an instance, only one representation is copied.

  2. From Diagram section of the action bar, select Generate Assembly of Views .
  3. Select the logical component under which the diagram view containing the merged content will be created.
  4. In the Sheet dialog box, enter a name for the sheet..
  5. In the View dialog box, enter a name for the diagram view.
The content of the selected diagram view is merged and inserted in the newly created diagram view.

If some 2D representations could not be copied, the Assembly of Views Report dialog box appears. For each symbol, it provides the name of the diagram view in which it is located and the reason why the representation could not be copied.
