Replacing by an Existing Object

Replace by Existing replaces an object by an existing object of the same type (a product by a product, for example).

  1. From the tree, select the object to be replaced.

  2. From the Publication section of the action bar, click Replace by Existing .

A Filter symbol appears under your pointer. The Content Chooser lets you select an object:

    • In the tree or in the work area.
    • In the Search Results panel. For more information, see the 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps User's Guide.
    • In a library. You must first open an existing library: from the Tools section of the action bar, click Library Browser .

For more information, see Design IP Classification User's Guide: Working with Libraries.

  3. Select a second object.
    The first object is replaced.
Warning: The instance name (displayed in the Properties dialog box) is not updated. The previous instance name is kept.
    Important:
    • This command is not available for a root product or an aggregated representation instance.
    • An object can be replaced by any object of the same type, but cannot be replaced by itself, neither by one of its parents product.
