About Cut, Copy and Paste Commands on Connections

This section describes the Cut, Copy, and Paste commands on interfaces and connections.

Important: This functionality can be applied on interfaces, flow associations and logical ports.

Note that:

  • The multiselection is available for the Copy and Cut commands.

Note that a cut/copy-paste of an heterogeneous multiselection is possible but only the cut/copied objects compatible with the target are pasted.

  • Cutting an interface or a connection is only possible if its parent (owning function or logical component) can be edited. Pasting an interface or a connection is only possible on editable functions or logical components.

This page discusses:

Cut/Copy-Paste of Functional and Logical Interfaces

You can cut or copy an interface from a function then paste it to the same or to another function. You can perform the same action on a logical component.

Interface Attributes

When you cut/copy-paste an interface, the attributes of the pasted interface are identical to the attributes of the cut/copied interface.

Note: Extensions held by the interfaces are recreated on the pasted interface with the same values.

Associated Flow/Type

For ports and flow associations only:

  • Copy: When you copy and paste a port or flow association, its flow or type is associated to the pasted interface.
  • Cut: When you cut and paste a port or flow association, its flow or type is not associated to the pasted interface.

Copy-Paste of Instances with Connections

When you copy-paste instances, the connections between those instances (if any) are also copy-pasted.

Access through the Engineering Knowledge Language

You can access the attributes of pasted interfaces, flow/types and connections through the EKL. Those attributes can be valuated through a call to the business logic PLMIdentificationInitialization.

For more information about attributes valuation, see Feature Specialization User's Guide: Reference Information: Business Logics: PLM Business Logic Implementations: Attributes Initialization.
