Importing an FMU File

You can import an FMU file to a function or logical component. The result is the creation of an FMI behavior in the function or logical component.

Important: The presently supported FMI version do not support structured inputs and outputs, so the interfaces of the imported FMU must not be structured.

This task shows you how to:

Add an FMU

You can add an FMU file to a function or logical component by importing it. A corresponding behavior representation is created when importing the file.

Tip: You can also perform the below by dragging the FMU you want to import to a function or to a logical component in the tree, or to the main view.

  1. In the tree, select the function or logical component where the FMI behavior containing the FMU should be located.
  2. From the Behaviors section of the action bar, click Import FMU .
    The Import FMU dialog box appears.
  3. From this dialog box, browse and select the convenient FMU file.
  4. Click Open.
    The FMU file appears in the tree under the new behavior representation (below shown expanded).

The FMI behavior is complete, including mapping to ports and interfaces. You can change the mapping if needed; see Changing the Mapping of FMI Ports.

Replace an Existing FMU

You can replace an existing FMU.

Tip: You can also perform the below by dragging the FMU you want to import on top on the FMU you want to replace (in the tree).

Replace an Existing FMU Selected in the Tree

  1. In the tree, select the FMU you want to replace.
  2. From the Behaviors section of the action bar, click Import FMU .

    Tip: You can also access this command from the context menu fo the FMU, in the tree.

    The Import FMU dialog box appears.
  3. From this dialog box, browse and select the convenient FMU file.
  4. Click Open.
    You are asked to accept the replacement.
  5. Click OK.
    The FMU is replaced.

Replace an Existing FMU Using the Context Menu of the Behavior in the 2D Graph

You can replace an existing FMU using the context menu of the name of the FMI behavior in the behavior symbol in the 2D graph.

  1. In the 2D graph, on a function or logical component having at least one FMI behavior, click the behavior list icon in the lower right to display the behaviors.
    The behaviors of the function or logical component are displayed. An example in a logical component:

  2. Right-click the name of the FMI behavior to replace, and select Import FMU .
    The Import FMU dialog box appears.
  3. From this dialog box, browse and select the convenient FMU file.
  4. Click Open.
    You are asked to accept the replacement.
  5. Click OK.
    The FMU is replaced.
