Exploring RFLP Structures

You can open or explore RFLP content with the Explore in RFLP and Explore Advanced in RFLP commands.

These commands are accessible:

  • From a Search Results panel: to open System Finder
  • From a System Finder tab: to explore the definition of an object

Notes: In the System Finder tab, when you run the Explore in RFLP and Explore Advanced in RFLP commands on an entity with an applied filter, it is displayed as follows:
  • On an RFLP root entity: the applied filter is automatically displayed.
  • On an instance below an RFLP entity: you must select With parent tree option to display the applied filter.

About configuration filters:

  • If the exploration is performed in an existing System Finder tab, the context of this tab is used to filter the completion.
  • If the exploration is performed in a new tab, the context of the active tab is used to filter the completion.
  • If a configuration filter is applied to a tree, it is applied when exploring with the With related objects option in the same tab and parent branch. Filtered elements are indicated in a tooltip.

This task shows you how to:

Explore in RFLP

  1. From the tree or from the Search Results panel, right-click an RFLP object.
  2. Select Explore with > Explore in System Finder .

Tip: You can also double-click the selected object to launch this command.

As a result, the selected object is explored in a System Finder tab.
Important: To explore a subelement, you must select the Complete only trees displayed in the current navigation context option (in Me > Preferences > Infrastructure > System Finder > System Finder Properties tab).
    Notes:
    • When you explore an RFLP entity, it opens in a System Finder tab that includes the entity and all other objects implementing or implemented by that entity.
    • For RFLP content, you can navigate on content, filter content and access object properties.
    • 3D Search on RFLP content is only supported for the Logical and Physical nodes.

Explore Advanced in RFLP

  1. From the tree or from the Search Results panel, select an RFLP object.
  2. From the Navigation section of the action bar, click Explore Advanced in RFLP .

Tip: This command is also available in the context menu.

The Explore Advanced in RFLP window dialog box appears.
Important: To explore a subelement, select the Complete only trees displayed in the current navigation context option (in Me > Preferences > Infrastructure > System Finder > System Finder Properties tab).

This option is applied if the With related objects option is checked. In this case, only the related objects which are part of the current context of navigation are retrieved.

  3. Select the convenient option:
    • With related objects: to add the objects implementing and implemented by the explored entity to an existing System Finder tab.
    • With parent tree: to add the parent tree of the explored entity to an existing System Finder tab.
    • In context: in an existing System Finder tab, to expand all nodes containing an instance of the selected reference.
      • The command expands the root of a Requirement/Logical Reference/Functional Reference/Product assembly down the branches containing the selected object. All other objects that were visible remain visible.
      • If any root of a Requirement/Logical Reference/Functional Reference/Product is selected, it is ignored and an error message appears.
    • New window: to open a new System Finder tab with the retrieved content.
    • Existing window: to complete the content of an existing System Finder tab with the retrieved content.
  4. Click OK.
The implemented and implementing objects are displayed and highlighted in a new System Finder tab.
Tip: The implemented and implementing objects are selected to let you immediately perform a common action (like an Open, for example).
