Defining a Perforated Plate Component

You can apply properties to a 3D part that model the behavior of a perforated plate.

When you define a perforated plate component in one finite element model (FEM) representation, the app defines it in all FEM representation instances.

  1. From the E-Cooling section of the action bar, click Perforated Plate Component .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. In the 3D area, select a perforated plate as the support.
  4. Click Search to apply a material to the perforated plate.
The Material Palette dialog box opens.
  5. Enter a value for the Thickness of the perforated plate.
  6. In the table, enter data points for the Velocity Magnitude and Pressure Drop to construct a pressure-velocity curve.
  7. Select the axis system and the axis along which the flow resistance is applied.
    OptionDescription
Global Aligns the local feature triad with the global coordinate system.
Local Aligns the local feature triad with a selected axis system in the model.
  8. Click OK.
