Checking the Status of FEM Representations

You can verify that the active finite element model is valid for use in a simulation. The verification process checks that sections are applied to the model and include a material. It also updates or generates the mesh for any unmeshed regions or regions that have been modified since the mesh was last generated. The process verifies only these minimum requirements; it cannot verify that the section properties or mesh are suitable for your simulation.

  1. From the Standard area of the action bar, click Check Finite Element Model .
The Finite Element Model Status dialog box appears. If there are errors in the FEM, the Diagnostic Viewer provides details.
  2. Use the status information to locate and correct any errors in the finite element model.
  3. Click one of the following:
    • Close to close the dialog box.
    • Terminate to end the status checks before completion.
