Initializing Solid Geometry for a Fluid Model

You can automatically mesh and create solid properties for all parts linked to the FEM representation.

About Model Initialization
  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Model Initialization .
The Initialize Solid Model dialog box appears.
  2. Choose an initialization method for the finite element model:
    • To create a Tetrahedron Mesh using a default set of parameters, select Automatic.
    • To create a Tetrahedron Mesh and manually configure basic mesh parameters, select Manual.
  3. Optional: If you selected the Manual initialization method, you must specify the following parameters:
    1. Select the Mesh type.

You can choose Tetrahedron Mesh or OctreeTetrahedronMesh; Tetrahedron Mesh is the default.

    2. Enter the element Size.

The mesher may vary the element size to improve quality, conformance to geometry, or other parameters.

    3. Enter the Sag ratio.

The sag ratio controls the degree of conformance between the mesh and curved geometry. It is the ratio of the maximum distance between an element edge and the geometry to the length of the element edge.

  4. Click OK.

The finite element model representation is created, activated (highlighted in blue in the tree), and opened in the model creation app.
