Extracting Geometry (Protected)

You can extract the geometry created by a body or feature into another body.

Note: Depending on your role, you may not have access to this functionality.

Before you begin: Open a 3D shape representation.
  1. From the Manufacture section of the action bar, click Volumes Extraction .
  2. In the Added Extracted Grill.x dialog box, select Protected volume extraction .
  3. From the Extract From list select the required option.
    The options available are:
    • Body: With this option the app takes into account holes or protected features that are not locally modified.
    • Features: This option is useful in a complex product where you do not want all the holes or protected volumes, but only a selected sub-set of them. To take locally modified features into account, you need to use this option.
  4. In the Selection box, select the body that contains the geometry of the solid functional set.
  5. Select the Holes check box to include all the holes in the solid functional set in the extract volume; select the Protected check box to include all the protected features in the extract volume.
  6. Click OK.
The Extract Body.x node is added to the tree.
